The new facility for the Powers Ferry Animal Hospital is now underway. After months of diligent planning, designing and permitting, the Horizon team is on property engaging site preparations. The new hospital will be a ‘state of the art’ animal care facility. The 7500 SF, two-story, building is a dream come true for Dr. Andy Smith. Horizon is pleased to have negotiated this contract, and furthermore, considers veterinary facility construction an area of expertise. Horizon is an industry member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has officially registered BUILDING LIFECYCLE SOLUTIONS to Horizon Construction Company. The registered slogan plainly states the commitment of the Horizon Team to serve our clients in all areas: new construction, remodel/reinvestment and repairs. By offering Building Lifecycle Solutions, Horizon is able to truly partner with the client.
  n 'It’s all good’ in Buford, GA where Horizon is constructing a new location for Goodwill Industries. The building covers 26,000 square feet. David Williams is the Field Manager at this project.

  n Briarcliff Too Animal Clinic is underway on Virginia Avenue. Horizon has negotiated a contract to convert an existing building to a state-of-the-art animal clinic. This facility will serve as a satellite location for the renowned Briarcliff Animal Clinic. Briarcliff has been serving clients in Atlanta for over 50 years. The Field Manager for the project is Darryl Martin.

  n The first new, ground-up, Autobell in Georgia is underway and Horizon is excited to be leading the way on this project in Acworth. Autobell enjoys a great reputation in the auto care industry and goes to great lengths to conserve and recycle water. The photo includes the foundation of the water treatment area.

  n Horizon was well represented as Andy Micham, Matt Roberts and Steve Micham  attended the 2009 Restaurant Facility Management Association National Conference at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando.  This event was the first appearance of the Horizon Facilities Services display booth.

   n ATLANTA DRAGWAY Horizon has moved into the “fast lane” with our most recent job start. Atlanta Dragway in Commerce has negotiated a contract with the Horizon team to renovate and extend the shut down area. The field manager for the project is Wayne Kell.
  n Now Playing: The Rocky Horror Demo Show at Hairston Theatre! Horizon is doing some major demolition to prepare an old theatre in Stone Mountain to become an A.J. Wright retail store. The challenges include: making the floor level since it slopes for the theatre seats, removing load bearing walls and removing a mezzanine level. The most daunting task may be odor abatement (the smell of popcorn)!

The Stone Canyon Development Company has selected Horizon to construct The Camp Creek Pavilion.    The project is now underway with utility installation in progress.  The results of the excavations are holding true to the Stone Canyon company name (click picture to see photo of large boulders)!  The Field Manager for the project is Gary Roberts.

It is time to break out the red vests and head to Dallas, GA. Horizon is now underway on a new Ace Hardware along with some adjacent specialty retail suites. This is a Martin Capital project and is under the direction of Chris Milby, a fifteen year veteran of Horizon Construction Company.

  n Horizon is claiming the luck of the Irish as it begins construction on a new O’Reilly Auto Parts Store in Decatur, GA. The facility is 6800 SF. The Field Manager for the project is David Williams.

The team at Horizon is howling because The Animal Medical Center of Holly Springs has been awarded to Horizon Construction. The project is to begin as soon as the permit is fetched.  The saws will be purring soon. The state of the art facility will be the new home of Dr. Jason Haden as he establishes a practice in the growing community of Holly Springs. The location is just north of the intersection of East Cherokee on Old Highway 5.

   n Horizon has expanded its warehouse to increase space and efficiency in the Facilities Services Group. The expansion includes a 90% increase in floor area, a ramp addition to allow truck access into the warehouse and to facilitate forklift access onto the yard. Additionally, a secured outside storage area has been added to allow staging of materials and equipment with access by crews to these items 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,

The Woodlands Pavilion will have a grand opening reception on November 8th, 2007. The pavilion was built by Horizon on behalf of Pope and Land to honor Daniel B. Pattillo. The pavilion is in Woodlands Garden at 920 Scott Boulevard, Decatur, GA. The project has many unique qualities and is in a wonderful setting. The field manager for this project was Darryl Martin.

Horizon has negotiated a contract to build Phase I of the Windermere Professional Park.  The current phase includes four office buildings.  Future phases include two specialty retail centers. “Elvis has left the building but only temporarily while Horizon Construction does a major renovation at the Hard Rock Café on Peachtree in Atlanta.”  The field management team includes Chris Milby, Dick Leonard and Darryl Martin.

  n Horizon is currently building an office/ warehouse building in McFarland West Business Park in Alpharetta, GA. The building includes 22,400 SF on the ground level. Shane Milby is the Superintendent

  n   Clean is the word in Hoschton, Georgia as Horizon builds the new Bumper to Bumper Car Wash on Highway 124. David Alford is the Superintendent.
  n   What’s in a name? Horizon has been awarded the Affairs to Remember Caterers facility in Atlanta, Georgia. The project is 23,700 SF and includes a large commercial kitchen, offices, warehouse and a mezzanine. Jeff Redfern is the Superintendent. Link to www.affairs.com

  n   Stakes are in the ground and this spring steaks will be on the grill! Horizon is building a new Longhorn Steakhouse in LaGrange, GA. Gary Roberts is the Superintendent.

Trylon Properties has negotiated with Horizon Construction to build the Commerce Park at Northbrook. Phase I of the project is now underway. The development on Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee will consist of two 17,000 SF office buildings situated on 3.75 acres.   n   Fouts Brothers Truck Center www.foutsbros.com has negotiated with Horizon to expand its showroom offices. Fouts Brothers is located in Smyrna and has been meeting Atlanta’s commercial truck needs since 1952.
  n The Suwanee Day Centre is now under construction with Horizon leading the way. The project includes a pair of buildings. Building I is a single story 10,800 SF retail center and Building II is a Two story mixed use building. The project is located in the Town Center section of Suwanee.

  n   Horizon has negotiated the building contract for the Shiloh West Business Park. Shiloh West is a Pope and Land Development. Buildings 1 and 2 are complete. Buildings 3, 4 and 5 are underway now. For sales/leasing information call Frank Kelly at 770-980-0808.
  n   Remax has selected Horizon to build their new 2 story office building in West Cobb. The project will start in October 2005. Jeff Redfern will be the project superintendent.
 
  n Horizon has recently expanded the home office by 1000 SF. The expansion allows for more efficiency in Pre-Construction and the Facilities Services Group. An additional digitizer station has been added in the expansion area.

  • Horizon has been awarded the freestanding Verizon Wireless store in Lawrenceville, GA. The project is on a site formerly known as Fazoli’s. Demolition is underway to clear the way for the Verizon. A man in gray coveralls was overheard at site asking “can you hear me now?”
     

  • Atlanta Decking to open new headquarters in Alpharetta---  Horizon Construction Company will be building the new headquarters located on Shiloh Road.   The facility will be 10,000 SF and will house the corporate offices for both Atlanta Decking (www.atlantadecking.com) and Georgia Front Porch (www.georgiafrontporch.com)
     

  • September 7, 2005:   Horizon breaks ground on the new Longhorn Steak House in Acworth, GA.  Chris Milby is the project superintendent.
     

  • Horizon has mobilized at The Market Forest Shoppes on Windward Parkway. The project includes an 18,000 SF specialty retail center. The developer is Parke Day. For leasing information call John Goodhew at 770-446-1500.

  • January 10, 2005: Horizon breaks ground on Phase II of Bentwater Retail Center. The retail center is the third project for Horizon in the Bentwater development. Jeff Redfern is the project superintendent.
     

  • June 1, 2004 Horizon announces an intentional program to handle maintenance and repairs work. The Facilities Services Group will expand on the scope of services that Horizon has performed since 1991. Horizon has always been a “full service” contractor and continues to offer the client Lifecycle Solutions (new construction-renovations-maintenance/repairs).   • One hundred percent of Horizon’s field supervision staff attended and were certified in First Aid and CPR at a company meeting on Jan 25, 2004.
     

  • It was a red letter day for Horizon at the recent ribbon cutting ceremony for Truett Cathy’s Truett’s Grille in McDonough. Chris Milby was the project superintendent for this project and received countless accolades. Additionally, Steve Micham and Jeff White were on hand to receive a plaque marking an important milestone. The plaque reads “ in recognition of the completion of your 100th Chick-Fil-a free-standing restaurant “.
     

  • January 5, 2004: Horizon breaks ground on new Georgia State Patrol Post in Cordele. David Alford is the Project Superintendent.
